Marc Gromis, Esq. - Attorney at Law
Mr. Gromis has been an attorney for more than thirty years, primarily serving as a federal prosecutor in Buffalo, New York with the United States Department of Justice.
After graduating at the very top of his class at St. John’s University School of Law in 1983, Mr. Gromis accepted a position as a confidential law clerk to U.S. District Judge John T. Elfvin in the Western District of New York.
Upon completion of the two-year clerkship, Mr. Gromis went to work for the Washington, D.C. law firm Steptoe & Johnson, where, as a litigation attorney, he specialized in government contracts and white collar criminal investigations.
In 1987, Mr. Gromis joined the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of New York as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, handling civil and criminal matters on behalf of the United States.
Mr. Gromis served as Chief of the Arson Task Force from 1987 to 1994, supervising investigations by federal and state agencies and obtained significant arson and bombing convictions.
Thereafter from 1994 to 1998, Mr. Gromis was named Lead Prosecutor of the Western New York Telemarketing Task Force, managing a multi-agency task force. He tried numerous cases, and obtained more than 250 convictions and eliminated 90 different unlawful operations.
From December 2000 to July 2002, Mr. Gromis served as the Chief of White Collar Crime Division for the Western District of New York, wherein he supervised nine prosecutors and handled an extensive caseload.
From 2003 to 2006 Mr. Gromis operated a law firm specializing in criminal defense.
Mr. Gromis also worked at Canisius College from 2004 to 2006 as an Adjunct Professor teaching Introduction to Criminal Justice I and II.
From 2005 to 2010, Mr. Gromis was an owner of Buffalo Hemp Outfitters, in Buffalo, NY; a retail business dedicated to educating the pubic about the benefits of using industrial hemp as an eco-friendly source of fiber, fuel, cosmetics and food.
From Spring 2011 to Spring 2015, Mr. Gromis serves as an Adjunct Professor, School of Law, State University of NY at Buffalo; teaching a course on White Collar Crime.
